VISA POLICY
Visa Policy for International Travelers to Phu Quoc

Visa Exemption

According to current Vietnamese law, foreign nationals and overseas Vietnamese holding foreign passports are exempt from visa requirements when entering, staying, or exiting Phu Quoc for up to 30 days.
This applies even if the traveller enters via an international checkpoint (by air or sea), stays in the transit area, and then continues to Phu Quoc.

Entry Methods

  • By sea: Via Duong Dong Port, Kien Giang Province — eligible for visa-on-arrival
  • By land: Via Ha Tien International Border Gate, Kien Giang Province — eligible for visa-on-arrival
  • By air: At Phu Quoc International Airport — eligible for visa-on-arrival. If entering via other international airports in Vietnam, travellers must remain in the transit area while connecting to a domestic flight to Phu Quoc.

Special Temporary Residence Policy

Citizens of the following 13 countries may stay in Phu Quoc for up to 45 days without a visa, regardless of passport type or travel purpose (as long as entry conditions are met): Germany, France, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Belarus
Foreigners already legally residing in Vietnam do not need to register temporary residence when travelling to Phu Quoc — only a standard travel declaration is required.

Travelling from Phu Quoc to Other Provinces

If continuing your journey beyond Phu Quoc, the local immigration authority can issue a visa from the island. For longer stays, extensions may also be granted.
Those needing to renew or update visa details, or apply for temporary/permanent residence cards, can do so via their sponsor or directly at the Phu Quoc Immigration Office.
