Phu Quoc island in the southern province of Kien Giang, dubbed as the pearl island in the southwestern region of the country, has emerged as a favourite destination for tourists both inside and outside the country.
Recently, the international group of TikTok creators discovered many fun and delicious places to eat after their journey to experience Pearl Phu Quoc Island.
I first visited Phu Quoc in 2013 and vividly remember the pristine Ong Lang beach, watching locals gathering sea urchins from the ocean, driving on under-construction concrete roads through the jungle, and eating a delicious plate of gỏi cá trích (sardinella salad) made by my best friend’s mother-in-law.
Aside from the various fresh and delectable seafood dishes, Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province also offers ‘bun quay’ (literally stirred noodle soup).
Soft and fresh herring fillets mixed with onion and grated coconut make for a unique herring fish salad, a specialty of Phu Quoc Island, Kien Giang Province.
