The visa policy for international visitors to Phu Quoc
Visa Exemption
Vietnam's Regulations on Entry, Exit, and Residence states that all foreign nationals and Vietnamese holding foreign passports coming to Phu Quoc island will be exempted from Vietnam visas with a stay of no more than 30 days.
If foreigners enter an international border gate of Vietnam (including by air and by sea), stay in the transit area at that border gate, then transfer to Phu Quoc island, they will be exempted from visa as prescribed.
Ports of Entry:
- Duong Dong Seaport in Kien Giang province: E-visa on arrival
- Ha Tien International Border Gate in Kien Giang province: E-visa on arrival
- Phu Quoc Airport: E-visa on arrival. If tourists arrive at other international airports in Vietnam, they will go through immigration procedures upon arrival. After that, they will remain in the transit area of the airport while waiting for their connecting domestic flight to Phu Quoc Island
Temporary Stay Period
Visa requirements are exempted for citizens of the following countries: Federal Republic of Germany, Republic of France, Republic of Italy, Kingdom of Spain, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Russian Federation, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kingdom of Denmark, Kingdom of Sweden, Kingdom of Norway, Republic of Finland and Republic of Belarus with a temporary residence duration of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, purpose of entry, provided that all entry conditions according to Vietnamese law are met.
Foreigners who are legally residing in Vietnam can travel to Phu Quoc Island without having to obtain temporary residence certification. They simply need to comply with the current regulations for reporting their temporary stay.
Traveling from Phu Quoc to Other Localities
From Phu Quoc, travelers intending to visit other localities will have their visas reviewed by the immigration authorities on the island. Should visitors seek to extend their stay on Phu Quoc beyond the designated period, the immigration authorities will assess requests for temporary residence extensions.
Foreigners wishing to extend their temporary residence periods, change their registered purpose of stay, issue, supplement, or amend visas, or obtain temporary/permanent residence cards must do so through organizations, individuals, or directly with the immigration authorities of Phu Quoc Police
