Located within the expansion investment project Phu Quoc International Airport invested by Sun Group, the VVIP terminal with a scale of 8,500 m² was designed by Italian architect Marco Casamonti, while the interior was handled by Aedas Interiors (Singapore) - part of Aedas, one of the world's leading architecture and planning groups.  The facility is modernly equipped, capable of accommodating private jets for up to 300 people. The VIP terminal will be the reception point for national leaders during APEC 2027 and important events of Phu Quoc in the future.

The main idea of the terminal originates from the graceful shape of the sea eagle fish, a symbol of freedom and enduring strength. Therefore, the interior of the facility is designed as a journey to explore the many depths of the ocean.

The main idea of the terminal is inspired by the graceful shape of the osprey

The terminal is designed as a vibrant work of art, honoring the beauty of Pearl Island with a contemporary design language. From white sandy beaches, fish sauce production, pearl farming, pepper cultivation, sim wine to the rhythm of life in coastal fishing villages, all become sources of inspiration, creating a uniquely characteristic guest experience right at the gateway to Phu Quoc.

The first touchpoint of the journey is the grand hall, where the shimmering water under the sunlight is recreated through layers of natural light reflecting into sparkling golden ripples moving rhythmically. Within this architecture that breathes the sea, the silhouette of traditional Vietnamese communal houses with their sloping roofs, truss structures, and intricate partitions appears, bringing a feeling of warmth and solidity right from the welcoming entrance. The bright atmosphere here leaves an initial impression of a friendly and open Vietnam.

From here, the spatial journey gradually transitions to softer tones with sapphire and jade colors of the "sunset sea" (mesopelagic zone). The check-in area features a tall, straight spatial axis, highlighted by rows of wooden columns creating a solemn rhythm. The wave-like net-shaped pendant lighting casts a soft glow onto repeating patterned wooden panels, reminiscent of traditional weaving techniques.

The terminal is designed as a vibrant work of art, celebrating the beauty of the Pearl Island with a contemporary design language.

Moving into the departure area, the space unexpectedly opens up with large, floor-to-ceiling windows offering direct views of the sea. Clusters of low sofas and coffee tables are arranged as resting "oases" scattered throughout the waiting lounge under a continuously curved slatted ceiling. The restraint in color and lighting, combined with the expansive views and natural materials, brings a sense of relaxation akin to a seaside resort. Passengers can relax, chat, or complete necessary procedures before their flight.

The VIP lounge for high-ranking officials and heads of state further immerses the experience into the deepest layers of the ocean. Here, all the commotion of the outside world seems to subside behind the muted-colored walls. Surrounding the space are surfaces of polished black obsidian accented with gold-toned metal trim, creating a discreet yet captivating elegance. The centerpiece of the area is a suspended glass and gold sculpture, evoking the image of an osprey soaring freely in the deep sea.

To meet the most stringent standards, the functional room system is designed to be isolated and flexible, from meeting rooms, temporary workspaces to reception lounges. Every interior detail is meticulously calculated to ensure absolute security and comfort, while remaining harmonious with the overall architecture. The blend of wood, stone, bronze-toned metal, and ceramics exudes the prestige of a diplomatic reception point while retaining the intimacy of Vietnamese culture.

With flexible operational capabilities serving from events like APEC to private charter flights, the VIP terminal of Phu Quoc Airport is not only an advanced infrastructure project but also a "cultural ambassador", affirming the position of Pearl Island (Phu Quoc) and Vietnam on the international diplomatic map.
