Record 50 international flights in one day, over 30,600 passengers
February 14, 2026, marked a special milestone for Phu Quoc International Airport , recording a total of 86 arrivals, including 50 international flights – the highest number in a single day since the airport officially began operations in 2012. Total passenger volume reached 30,651, reflecting a strong surge in travel demand before the Lunar New Year holiday.
Out of the total flights, 36 were domestic and 50 were international. International passenger volume alone reached 18,271, accounting for nearly 60% of the total passenger volume for the day, including 9,582 arrivals and 8,689 departures. Meanwhile, domestic passengers numbered 12,380, indicating balanced growth in both market segments.

This record number clearly reflects the growing appeal of Phu Quoc to international tourists, especially as the Jade Island enters the peak Tet tourist season. The strong increase in international routes not only helps Phu Quoc expand its global connectivity but also solidifies its position as one of the leading destinations in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to the operating plan for the 2026 Lunar New Year, the total number of flights through Phu Quoc airport is expected to increase by about 50% compared to the same period last year. On average, there are about 75 flights per day, with peak days reaching from 80 to 84 flights, and the total number of passengers expected to exceed 720,000 during the entire peak period.

Facing the pressure of rapidly increasing passenger traffic, Phu Quoc International Airport has proactively implemented synchronous and flexible operating plans to ensure smooth operations. The airport has increased personnel, vehicles, and service equipment, while also reviewing all infrastructure and processes to promptly adjust and optimize operational efficiency during peak periods.

Besides, the port closely coordinates with airlines and related units to reorganize service processes in areas prone to congestion such as check-in counters, security screening areas, and baggage claim belts. The increase in personnel during peak hours and flexible operations help ensure passengers are served conveniently, safely, and quickly.
In parallel with operational optimization, the airport also implements many upgrade projects to improve passenger experience, such as adding Wifi systems, upgrading signal boosters, installing more flight information display screens, expanding check-in counters, and increasing baggage belts. In particular, the application of automatic non-stop toll collection from early 2026 contributes to reducing congestion and improving operational efficiency.
