Phu Quoc has been named one of the Top 3 Most Beautiful Islands in the Asia-Pacific by the prestigious Travel + Leisure magazine as part of the 2025 Luxury Awards Asia Pacific. The Vietnamese Đảo Ngọc or “Pearl Island” stands proudly alongside Bali (Indonesia) and Koh Samui (Thailand), marking its place as Vietnam’s sole representative in this elite regional ranking.

Travel + Leisure, one of the world’s most respected travel publications with a readership of high-end travelers across the globe, announces the Luxury Awards Asia Pacific annually to spotlight destinations offering exceptional, emerging luxury experiences. The evaluation criteria are notably strict, encompassing everything from world-class service quality and integrated resort-entertainment ecosystems to distinctive branding and the ability to deliver deeply personalized experiences.

In the 2025 edition, Phu Quoc impressively claimed third place, surpassing many well-known names in the region such as Palawan (Philippines), Langkawi (Malaysia), and Sumba (Indonesia). This latest accolade extends a series of international honors the island has earned in recent years, underscoring its transformation into a premier global destination.

Among Vietnam’s many islands, Phu Quoc boasts the largest land area and is widely celebrated for its stunning beaches - most notably Bai Kem and Bai Sao, where powdery white sands meet gentle waves and crystal-clear waters. The island's mild climate, unspoiled natural beauty, and calm seas have long enchanted visitors. Yet, beyond its scenic landscapes, Phu Quoc also captivates with a rich tapestry of cultural-historical experiences and an array of accommodation options ranging from affordable stays to ultra-luxury resorts.

In January 2025, Forbes also spotlighted Phu Quoc in its editorial feature, “The 6 Best Under-the-Radar Luxury Destinations of 2025,” applauding the island for its “seemingly endless coastline, inviting white sands, and breathtakingly clear waters.” The magazine further praised Phu Quoc as home to “one of Southeast Asia’s most spectacular sunsets.”

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, by the end of May 2025, Phu Quoc welcomed more than 4.5 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 33.3%, fulfilling 61.1% of its annual tourism target. Among them were nearly 900,000 international tourists, an astounding 76.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

These impressive figures not only highlight the island’s growing appeal but also reflect its dynamic momentum on the path to becoming a truly global destination. Today, Phu Quoc is redefining the luxury holiday experience through a constellation of signature developments within Sun Group’s Sun Paradise Land. The island enchants with 365 days of artistic fireworks displays in Sunset Town; the awe-inspiring Kiss Bridge, the only "non-touching" bridge of its kind in the world; the Kiss of the Sea show, recently honored with a Guinness World Record; the world’s longest three-wire cable car system to Hon Thom Island; and an impressive collection of luxury resorts including JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, Premier Village Phu Quoc, and La Festa Phu Quoc - Curio Collection by Hilton.

These iconic landmarks, seamlessly blending nature, culture, and innovation, have transformed Phu Quoc into a destination like no other - a place where travelers can find experiences unavailable anywhere else on Earth.

Phu Quoc is also home to the world’s longest three-wire cable car to Hon Thom Island – a Guinness World Record holder.

This remarkable progress comes as Phu Quoc prepares to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in 2027. With ongoing infrastructure upgrades, proven capacity for hosting major international events, and a rising global profile, Phu Quoc is rapidly emerging as a new epicenter for tourism, luxury hospitality, and international investment in the region.
