Growth and investment hotspot of Pearl Island

Amidst the growth wave, southern Phu Quoc is becoming a hot spot attracting visitors with a line of international-class tourism products. From the two super shows "Symphony o the Sea " and "Kiss of the Sea" with two spectacular fireworks displays every night , to the vibrant shopping and culinary street, or the world's longest three-rope sea-crossing cable car… along with a series of new tourism projects, causing tens of thousands of visitors to flock here to experience every day.

Mr. Tran Minh Khoa – Chairman of the Phu Quoc Special Administrative Region, said: “Sun Group is increasingly perfecting its ecosystem of resort tourism, entertainment, and even airlines, which has contributed to strongly promoting Phu Quoc tourism and preparing for APEC 2027”.

Not only attracting tourists, southern Phu Quoc is becoming a "fertile land" for tourism and service investors, together creating an international-class resort paradise. Mr. Vu Van Cuong, owner of the Times Corner hotel chain in Sunset Town, shared an optimistic business situation with occupancy rates consistently around 90-95%, especially during Christmas or New Year's Day when rooms are often 100% full.

Assessing the investment environment in Phu Quoc, Mr. Cuong said: “Phu Quoc will continue to develop and currently lacks many services, especially those for tourists, hotels, restaurants, spas, beauty care, or related services like laundry, industrial cleaning… I think there is still a lot of room for investment and business in Phu Quoc, especially for tourism and commerce”.

Mr. Fabl Belek, a Turkish national, owner of Istanbul Beach Club restaurant at Kem Beach, shared his future plan to open 2-3 more restaurants in Phu Quoc. “I only intended to come to Phu Quoc for a short rest but I have stayed here for 9 years, because Phu Quoc has everything: from nature to the business environment. Our customers come from all over the world, Russians, Koreans, Taiwanese, Thai… My shop is sometimes like the United Nations”.

According to statistics from Sun Paradise Land – Sun Group, the occupancy rate of businesses in Sunset Town will reach over 70% by the end of 2025, while this figure was 20% in 2023. Mr. Dinh Gia Long – Director of Sun Paradise Land used the term “incalculable” to describe the growth rate of Phu Quoc tourism, with typical examples such as the number of Indian tourists increasing 7 times in just one year.

“Along with the general growth of Phu Quoc tourism, world-class policies, festivals, and events continuously invested in by Sun Group have brought great business opportunities for investors, thus the operational rate of real estate properties is increasing at a record level. Not only domestic investors, but many businessmen and the Korean and Taiwanese communities are flocking here, opening restaurants and developing tour packages to bring customers from these markets here”, Mr. Long said.

APEC Infrastructure – a foundation for Phu Quoc's new leap forward

Along with the wave of tourism and service investment, Phu Quoc is entering a strong breakthrough phase in urban infrastructure, especially as key projects are accelerated to serve APEC 2027. Notable among these are the APEC Convention Center at Bai Dat Do, which is expected to host many high-level activities within the framework of the event, or the VND 9,000 billion urban railway and the DT.975 provincial road project directly connecting Phu Quoc International Airport to the convention center.

In parallel, Phu Quoc International Airport is being invested in by Sun Group for expansion and upgrade to become a world-leading modern facility, aiming to increase operational capacity and become a symbol of a "modern gateway", bringing global tourists to the Pearl Island. When these projects are completed, Phu Quoc in general and the southern island in particular will possess a synchronous and modern infrastructure system, creating a strong impetus for tourism, commerce, and services to develop.

In parallel with infrastructure development, Sun Group has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Hilton to develop multi-brand hotels in the south of the island, including premium brands such as Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, and DoubleTree by Hilton, with a total of nearly 2,000 international-standard rooms. Previously, Sun Group also partnered with Rixos to bring Southeast Asia's first premium all-inclusive resort concept to Hon Thom Island. It is expected that upon operation, this brand will provide nearly 2,000 rooms for visitors to Phu Quoc with a model that has never been seen before in Vietnam.

These steps are not only aimed at serving international events like APEC 2027 but also demonstrate the ambition to make the southern island of Phu Quoc a center for international resorts, conferences, and investment, a place where nature, international services, and world-class experiences converge. Coupled with the leverage of APEC 2027 and the projection of 30 million visitors by 2030, the ripe season for tourism and service investors in Phu Quoc in general and the southern island in particular is fast approaching.
