The monument with the theme "The South in My Heart" is a project with political significance, a cultural symbol that contributes to affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over its seas and islands, and reflects the people’s respect and reverence for our beloved President Ho Chi Minh.
The Central Square and Ho Chi Minh Monument project is located in Duong Dong ward, Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province, covering an area of 7.45 hectares. The Ho Chi Minh Monument and the relief sculpture are the most important components of this project.
The Ho Chi Minh Statue stands 20.7 meters tall, with the statue’s body measuring 18 meters, the pedestal standing at 0.3 meters, and the base at 2.4 meters. It is made of a bronze alloy weighing more than 93 tons. The statue and its pedestal are cast in bronze alloy, with a stainless steel frame inside. The surface of the pedestal is covered with black granite, with a reinforced concrete core inside. The statue’s attire is designed as a simple, unbuttoned coat with the flaps of the coat gently swaying in the wind, representing the close and humble relationship President Ho Chi Minh had with the people. The statue’s right hand is placed on the left chest, symbolizing the phrase "The South in My Heart."
