According to the report “Cheapest Destinations 2026” (translated as: Best value flight destinations in 2026) published by Skyscanner, Phu Quoc is the only representative of Vietnam to be included in the group of destinations with the most reasonable round-trip economy class airfares globally for 2026.
The report is built from actual search and booking data in 2025 for 2026 journeys, compiled from millions of monthly visits to Skyscanner – one of the world's largest online flight booking platforms. Phu Quoc's position in the leading group, alongside familiar names in beach tourism such as Phuket, Manila, or Denpasar, shows that the 'Pearl Island' is not only competitive in the Asian region but has entered the same 'global arena' in terms of air accessibility.

If reasonable costs are an indicator that Phu Quoc is an accessible destination, then Skyscanner's “Trending Destinations 2026” report clearly reflects the true appeal of the Pearl Island on the global tourism map. In this ranking, Phu Quoc ranks second among the world's most trending destinations, with flight search growth reaching 184% compared to the previous year. Skyscanner describes Phu Quoc as an ideal choice for peaceful retreats, possessing abundant nature, clear blue waters, and beaches rated as "amazingly" beautiful like Kem Beach, Sao Beach.
These growth figures are not random, but reflect the effectiveness of the combination of open policies and improving transportation infrastructure. Phu Quoc is currently the only destination in Vietnam applying a 30-day visa exemption policy for international tourists, while continuously expanding air connectivity. The airline named after the island – Sun PhuQuoc Airways – officially entering the market, with a focus on developing international routes and directly connecting key source markets in the future, is expected to further enhance competitiveness and lay the foundation for Phu Quoc's long-term tourism growth.

Sun Phu Quoc Airways plans to open many new routes in 2026
In fact, Phu Quoc's tourism growth in 2025 has shown a solid foundation for this trend. The island welcomed about 8.3 million visitors, exceeding the annual plan by over 18%, with international visitors reaching nearly 1.9 million, almost doubling compared to the same period. The growth momentum continued in the early months of 2026, when Phu Quoc International Airport continuously set new records for the number of international flights, with an estimated increase of about 40% compared to the same period last year.
However, behind those impressive numbers is not just a story of accessibility or an increase in flight numbers. The key factor helping Phu Quoc attract international visitors lies in its increasingly complete experience ecosystem, offering tourists a seamless chain of experiences from day to night. Phu Quoc is no longer known only for its pristine nature, but is gradually being positioned as a destination for unique experiences.

As sunset falls, Sunset Town becomes the focal point with Kiss Bridge – the world's only "non-touching" bridge praised by CNN – along with large-scale multimedia shows such as Kiss of the Sea - a show that holds a Guinness World Record, or Symphony of the Sea. Phu Quoc is also currently the only island in the world to host a nightly fireworks display for nearly two consecutive years, turning the Jade Island into a sleepless destination, where tonight is "New Year's Eve" and tomorrow night is too.

Its continuous presence in Skyscanner's reputable rankings shows that Phu Quoc is not just benefiting from trends, but is building sustainable competitive advantages based on affordable access costs and an increasingly complete experience ecosystem. When airfare becomes an "open door" to attract global tourists, and experiences become the reason for them to return, Phu Quoc is gradually positioning itself as one of the most notable beach destinations in the world by 2026.
