A New Destination for World-Class Events
In November, Phu Quoc warmly welcomed 500 guests from Coca-Cola for the brand’s Asia–South Pacific year-end event. In addition to teambuilding and leisure activities, the group chose a truly one-of-a-kind venue on the island – the Kiss of the Sea show stage in Sunset Town – to host their recognition night. With eight integrated technologies including fire, water, lighting, laser, projection, performances by 60 international artists, and a dazzling fireworks display, the evening left an unforgettable impression. A Coca-Cola representative shared: “This is probably the most beautiful stage in Vietnam – we are absolutely delighted.”
Coca-Cola’s recognition event was held on the “pearl island” of Phu Quoc last November.
Previously, Phu Quoc – particularly its southern region – had already caught the eye of many global billionaires as a destination for high-profile events. One notable example is the Indian billionaire wedding earlier this year, which lasted for seven days and welcomed 350 elite guests. The entire JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort was exclusively reserved, and Sunset Town was selected for various traditional Indian wedding ceremonies. The most memorable highlight for the bride, groom, and guests was the ceremony held on the Kiss of the Sea stage. On that night, the stage treated hundreds of attendees to two fireworks performances, creating a lavish celebration to ring in the New Year.
The billionaire family had planned the wedding six months in advance and flew to Phu Quoc four times to inspect the venue – a testament to the island’s growing appeal among the world’s most discerning, high-end travelers. Mr. John Paul Woolley, General Manager of the resort, remarked: “The entertainment and hospitality ecosystem in the south of the island is playing a pivotal role in attracting affluent Indian clients, who always expect their weddings to be grand and unforgettable.”

Phu Quoc Meets All the Right Conditions for Global Events
According to Atlas Global Events – a global event organizer with over 20 years of experience – there are many key factors in selecting the perfect international event destination. These include visa policies, tourism infrastructure, transportation systems, cultural and culinary experiences, and, importantly, safety and healthcare readiness.
Previously in Vietnam, Da Nang – the country’s hub for international events – was the first city chosen to host the 25th APEC Economic Leaders' Week, welcoming 21 heads of state. The city successfully met all the above criteria.
In December alone, Phu Quoc welcomed up to 27–28 international flights per day.
Looking toward this emerging destination, Phu Quoc is proving itself increasingly capable of becoming a new global event hub. In terms of accessibility, the island city is the only location in Vietnam offering a special visa exemption policy, allowing international visitors to stay for up to 30 days. Currently, over 20 domestic and international airlines operate direct routes to Phu Quoc from countries like South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, and Singapore – major transit hubs in the region – as well as charter flights from the UAE, India, Japan, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia.
By the end of next year, Phu Quoc is expected to complete its international cruise port, capable of receiving 3,000–4,000 passengers per docking. In addition, plans are underway to upgrade and expand Phu Quoc International Airport to accommodate millions of international arrivals annually.
In terms of tourism infrastructure, Phu Quoc is home to 311 ongoing projects, with a total investment of 428 trillion VND. Many of these are large-scale, high-competitiveness entertainment and resort complexes. Among the highlights is Sunset Town – a vast leisure complex with multi-trillion-VND investment, featuring the symbolic Kiss Bridge (praised by CNN) and world-class shows developed by leading producers, such as Kiss of the Sea and Symphony of the Sea, both treating guests to two stunning fireworks displays every night.
Every evening, two brilliant firework displays light up the sky over the pearl island.
Phu Quoc has also become a welcoming land for renowned international hotel management brands such as Marriott, Accor, Hilton, and IHG. Most recently, the island added another prestigious name to its portfolio as Sun Group signed an agreement with Accor & Ennismore to bring the Rixos brand to Southeast Asia and Vietnam for the first time, through the Rixos Phu Quoc resort project. Also this month, Sun Group broke ground on the Aspira Tower on Hon Thom. Expected to be completed by 2027, this iconic development will be a luxury complex for resort, entertainment, and retail, featuring The Luxury Collection Hon Thom hotel. It is anticipated to meet the demands of leisure and business travelers alike and become a new tourism symbol that attracts millions of visitors to Hon Thom and Phu Quoc each year.
More than anyone, Phu Quoc understands that safety is a vital piece in establishing itself as a destination for world-class events. The island is currently highly rated in terms of public order and security, yet still faces challenges in meeting the healthcare needs of its growing number of international residents and long-stay visitors. To address this, alongside upgrading existing hospitals and clinics, Phu Quoc has launched the Sun Group–invested Phu Quoc Sun Hospital project. Once completed, the hospital will be equipped with cutting-edge medical technology and staffed by top domestic and international specialists. It will offer comprehensive medical services with a strong focus on pediatrics, cardiology, and stroke prevention. With this project, the pearl island strengthens its position as a trusted destination for high-spending travelers seeking longer stays.
The Aspira Tower is expected to be completed by 2027, becoming a new tourism landmark for Phu Quoc.
Looking at the bigger picture, with its world-class tourism offerings and infrastructure, many experts agree that Phu Quoc is fully equipped with both the necessary and sufficient conditions to host international-scale events and festivals.
